phone home

I don't know why I called this post that. For those of you that do not know, jeff and i have this code word with jenni and tim. You see, every time we see something that is very East Texas (such as a mullet, a camo cut off shirt) we say "phone home." We used to say E.T. (to stand for East Texas) but then it made us think of ET the movie...so it somehow morphed into phone home. Wal-Mart in the evenings is prime time for finding these situations. However, I assure you this is all done in love...not in judgement. Jeff and Tim will be the first to tell you that they think mullets make a man attractive!

That had nothing to do with this post....just thought I'd share.

Really I don't know what this post is about....so I guess it doesn't matter!

I had a great weekend. My parents came in Friday night. I always love seeing them and know Colin loves seeing his MomMom and Pepaw. We watched Fireproof (which I loved!) The message was so powerful and it is definitely a message that this world needs to hear. Then Saturday we got up to go to Longview to go to a flea market. Well it rained and the flea market that we tried to go to apparently closed 2 years ago, so we just went to the mall and KMart. Then we came home, mommom and pepaw left, and we got in hard core sermon preparation mode.

Sunday morning jeff preached because our pastor was out of town. He did great and I was proud of him! Granny and Pops came in to see Colin man....oh and I guess to hear jeff preach. Then we had the associational Sunday School leadership training hosted at our church that night. THAT was actually really good. I was not looking forward to it and it really ended up being a really helpful thing! We had a great leader from the BGCT.

But, I am glad to be home tonight, glad jeff is NOT going to work tomorrow so we can have our family time. People gave us advice when we started ministry about protecting our family time. Now I realize what they mean. You have to fight for it. Its getting to the point where we are forcing ourselves (not often enough) to say "no" to people and things. And that's hard but its necessary.

So I am excited about tomorrow. Jenni and Tim are coming over, we are having steaks and watching the stars. Probably play a little wii in between times. Good times.

One more thing....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENNNNNNIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She is twonee wahn!

A few random thoughts I have been having...

1.I was telling Jeff earlier that I want to be selfless. I do LOTS of selfless acts/services, but they don't matter because I have selfish motives.

2. I hate when witnessing doesn't work. I love it when it does. I have had 1 of each of these incidents happen in the past week.

3. I CANNOT believe how grown up Colin is. He talks so clearly and is making lots of 2 and 3 word sentences. He doesn't even look like a baby! He is just all boy.

4.I am going to be working out at the Life Center here in Marshall. I will fill out the paper work this week and start next week. I don't want to necessarily loose weight. I just want to tone up and have more energy. Hopefully I'll stick with it.

So this is my very random post. Now I am off to bed. Good night!

Simple Woman's Daybook

Simple Woman's Daybook for TODAY Monday February 2, 2009.

Outside my window...it is really nice as long as the wind doesn't blow. I am SOOOO ready for Spring! It is my favorite season, I think. It's a great reminder of life.

I am thinking...about 2 friends that are lost and hurting.

I am thankful for...that I can rely on God's strength in ministry, because he knows we don't have a whole lot.

From the learning rooms...well last week I had like 7 kids out every day. we had the flu junk going around. I didn't teach too much new stuff since so many were out. Most of them were back today, so we will try to get back on track.

From the kitchen...we had chicken nuggets (or nuddits as C-man calls them) mac n cheese and black eyed peas. The rest of this week's menu includes fajitas, barbecue baked potatoes, taquitos, and fried chicken.

I am wearing...my wide leg dark jeans that I got for Christmas. I have officially stopped shopping from the junior section and graduated to semi-mom-jeans. And there is no shame! It is actually (in my opinion) more flattering on me. It keeps my "muffin tops" (you know...the love handles that hang over) in.

I am creating...I am trying to think of creative valentine cards for my class. I found some pretty cute ideas in this magazine. I will post a picture on what I decide to do.

I am going...on a mission trip for Spring Break with our church to South Tx to do hurricane clean up from Ike.

I am reading...5 Love Languages for children, Classical Devotions.......still.

I am hoping...that my high school Sunday School class keeps going like it has been the past few weeks. They have been opening up and more have been coming. Really exciting stuff. And I had a few extra leaders with me that are SO amazing...and I hope they keep coming too.

I am hearing...the tv and Colin snoring (he is asleep on his daddy's chest)

Around the house...dishes are clean, towels are washing and drying, toys are everywhere and it is cold, because we have the LEAST energy efficient house EVER!!!!

One of my favorite things...blankets. (Mary, you know what I'm talking about!)

A few plans for the rest of the week...work, church, small group at our house on Thursday, Arlington Fri night and Saturday for Nat's shower, Sunday come home and see Daniel and Mary!

Here is picture thought I am sharing...one of the best decisions I ever made.
